PLANTING & HARVESTING HERBS!

Bought this herb last week at the Farmer's Market in town. Was looking for more herbs, but nobody had any. My herb bed is full so I need to do something with this plant. After clearing out the Hen House over the weekend. I had a tire we used for the hens to dust bathe in. They don't need it anymore as they have plenty of other areas. Besides, they haven't used it since we moved them here at the homestead.

This looks like a good spot to start putting the herbs at. It's close to the house and away from the hens.

 Chocolate - Mint
Yep, takes like chocolate. That's a little weird to me.
 The girls liked it.

 Added paper.
For 2 reasons:
1. To compost
2. To help stop grass from growing right up
(Basically, to help de-weed it)

Look who was curious at what we were doing - Red!

Kaitlin distracting him. I really hope he can't reach the plant with his tongue.

 All done!
I did notice later that Red had his tongue out trying to reach it but he couldn't. I will need to keep a eye on it as it grows.
Want to share God's beautiful painting last night.

Needed to get up early this morning to take care of the meaties, hens and ducks.
The girls and I decided to fill in the holes before the rain comes and makes it harder.

The holes are filled in.

Today's harvest of herbs.
Need to get the dehydrator going again. It has been almost a week since I used it.

Basil, Thyme, Rosemary, Oregano, and Sage
Got them all rinsed and ready to go in the dehydrator.

This is a nice surprise as of late.
We have been collecting 10-11 eggs daily.
This is a change from collecting 3-4 eggs from 7 of my laying hens.
So, we got some babies finally becoming a laying hen.
Finally, some of them are earning their keep!

Look at King Tom!
He has been crazy lately. He has been trying to get on top of this for days. We had the canopy out over the weekend. He tried getting on top of it, but that didn't work out well for him. He has been standing up on the tallest support beam for the new Hen House. He is really eyeballing the tree near by.

Now look what King Tom is teaching Little Tom.
