Feeding The Chickens

Today we fed the the chickens some tomatoes, apples and more tomatoes!

Also Mom used her new dish she got for her birthday! 

And btw those green beans were really good!

Canning Beans

We canned some beans this summer!

Navy beans

Cannellini beans

Mixed beans

Let them soak overnight and then strain the water out.

These are the black beans.
Put 'em in jars...

Mixed beans in jars..

Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to each jar...

Fill 'em with water and seal them!

Then we put them in the pressure canner and the ones that
didn't fit waited in the oven!

Hey everyone! Life has been busy and we have been terrible bloggers. School started, field trips, new niece, birthdays, more school, canning, gardening... All that fun stuff! 

But, we are going to start blogging again! Yay! We'll probably have some posts about canning this summer and some gardening. Even though our garden is done now that its Autumn!! 

Another Update!

Soo, sorry we haven't posted in FOREVER! We have had tons going on! So how 'bout a good ole fashioned chicken update?!

So, we made a post about our Lavender chicks hatching, here. They are now about 3 weeks old!

In the pics above they are about a week old.

Oh by the way,
we finally named them.
Dawn, Opal and Lilac

And in these (I took of them today) they are about 3 weeks.

Harvesting Some Herbs.

Today we harvested some more herbs. If you would like to see the post we did before click here.

Sage,

And  oregano..

A smidge of thyme.

 A hint of spearmint. . . 

 And a dash of peppermint. 

Clean them, pluck their leaves off (except for the thyme) and place them in the dehydrator.

And, dehydrate!
