WEEKEND HAPPENINGS!

See what that is?

Give up?

It's fruit trees!

We have heard people say, the best time to plant fruit trees was 5 years ago. The second best time is today. So, the plan is to get them in this weekend.

We woke up to frost on the ground. Winter is coming! Don't think we are quite ready for it. I really enjoy the nice weather.
See the above picture? That is where the fruit trees are going (on the other side of the pond).

Tim and the girls got the cages ready for the trees. They did an extra one for Brie's Tree.

Five apple trees and one pear tree for now.

Got the farm truck loaded up, including helpers.

Measuring out the spots.

Now digging.

The first pear tree planted!

The first apple tree planted!

Cutting out more wire to wire up the cages.
The cages will help keep rabbits, deer and other critters from eating the trees.

We tied the trees loosely to the stakes to prevent wind from knocking them over but still leaving room to sway.

We planted them in a nice straight row.
And we have room for more.

The kittens are getting big. They follow us everywhere.

Getting them some water. It is supposed to rain tomorrow but they still need some today.

We don't just stop with trees. The guy we got the trees from had grape vines too and garlic. I wasn't gonna do a fall garden but ya know why not.

Got the farm truck re-loaded up.

Headed down to the Vineyard Garden area.

Did some mowing, weed-eating, and raking.

Got three grape vines to plant.

Strawberry plants

Tim got out the tiller.

We got ten garlic plants and I got them into single cloves to plant.
Daylight is leaving us fast.

The girls and I are working on getting the grape vines in, while Tim was tilling the ground for the garlic.

Got the rows ready for garlic.

Such hard workers. Tim and I are so glad our girls know where their food comes from and what it takes to get it to the table.

Kaitlin working the hoe and filling it back up with dirt. So June-July we should be harvesting some garlic. Ours plans are to save some back to replant.

~~SUNDAY~~

See the mud?  A couple of days ago the ducks have been making a mess of this. I put some cages down but I have noticed that they just move on down the fence and there is puddles of water.

The pump isn't on but the ground just stays wet.
So, Tim is gonna dig it up and see what the problem might be.

Chickens are in the Vineyard Garden, hoping they haven't dug up what we planted last night.

I gave the chickens some treats.

 Even the cats join in.

Two of the grapevines are planted here.

This is were the garlic is planted.
All looks good, nothing dug up.

 The third grape vine.

 Getting closer.

 There is water flowing out.
There is a leak somewhere.

That's right duckies, we are fixing this so you can stop making a muddy mess!

Tim got out the sump pump to get some of the water pumped out.

Can you see the water coming out?

Now you can see it better.
Time to go to the city and get some parts.

Two 4-wheelers down. Tim has taken them apart and is rebuilding them.

 And he doesn't stop......
Now he has taken apart the snow-blower.
What will be next?

Skylar hanging out with her animal friends.

Tim and Kaitlin got back from the city picking up parts and supplies to fix the pump outside.

Tim did a few adjustments and fixed the leak.
He isn't gonna fill in the hole yet. We plan on putting two more pumps in the pasture.

(Sundae)

We enjoyed dinner with family that stopped by.
Thanks for joining us last night!

Before heading to bed Tim was coming out of the garage and heard a noise. Check out the video below.
