HOMESTEAD HAPPENINGS!

The baby chicks are getting bigger now. They are starting to hang out in the Hen house run. The bantys still stay in their fenced in area. The  banty who broke her leg is getting around and doing better. The rooster likes her the best. I am guessing because she can't fight him off.

The steers were watching the feed bunks get filled with some feed. Tim open the fence for them, but they didn't know to come through it. They ran to the other side of the container. It is how they first came into the pasture. So Tim might have to re-do the electric fence and put the handles on the other side.

Tim feed the new steers 1st. They came in and ate and Tim sent them back on their side of the pasture.

 Next.......
It's interesting watching them watch each other. It is definitely different without the bull.
It actually seems calmer.

Look at this big batch of tomatoes!
There is a few green peppers in there too.
Looks like we will be canning. I have never harvest this much tomatoes before. This is a huge blessing!
Not bad for starting a garden right when we moved in. Kaitlin said next year might be different so we better can what we can this year.

We made salsa had 2 pots going this time.
We got 11 quarts and 6 pints. Not bad for a couple of hours of work today.

Kittens were out today and we finally got Phantom to eat by her kitties. Not sure if she liked that much but hunger took over. Her kittens started eating the food too. Skylar wasn't happy about that. She said they are too young. I agree but what do you do with them? Not all of them were eating it. Just 2 of them were.
Then, Cuddles decided to come and meet them. One of the kittens kept hissing at her. Oh she will get use to the dog soon. Ninja and Alex use to do that too and now they are all the best of buds.

So, Ninja wanted to come and meet the newest edition too. Alex came up but wasn't too interested in them she had other things on her mind.
I guess Phantom got relaxed enough with us to lay down and let her babies nurse. So she is finally comfortable enough to let us pet them and hold them. We do know she doesn't want Cuddles to close. She keeps Ninja back with a growl. She is totally fine with the chickens being with them and that makes me nervous.
