HOMESTEAD HAPPENINGS!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's been a while since I did a posting. The new year came in with a bang, and shortly afterwards we got the flu. It's been slow around here. I am just now sifting through my piles of stuff that took the back burner. I will say the animals still need to be fed, laundry still needs to be washed and dried, and food still needs to be cooked.

Winter amazes me. The water coming out of the gutter is frozen solid. The sun is out and the ground is crisp. Winter isn't my favorite season. I would say it is my least favorite. But the beauty of winter is amazing.

Look how the sun makes the trees sparkle like a diamond.

 The colorful evening skies.

 Frozen creeks.

It just looks cold.
Well, it is and the wind just whips through ya.

A blue sky and snow on the ground.
It just makes you want to cozy up with a cup of coffee and a warm fire.

How are all the animals doing????

The chickens and guineas.
They are doing good with the cold.

I think some of them are holding on to their eggs for nicer weather.

Our egg collection has gone down with cold weather.

The ducks.
They are still noisy and smelly.

 Hope is doing great.

 Greyson doing good.

Amber just hanging out on a cold day.

Shadow, Willow and Scout watching us doing morning chores.

Skylar with Shadow inside the cage.

Scout checking on Kaitlin.
She had been running a fever for five days and Scout has been missing her.

Scout and Cuddles hanging out with Tim.
He just got home from work. Been a long a day and the dogs needed some attention.

Willow

And meet our newest member.

 His name is Brex!

CHRISTMAS DAY!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

This is our second Christmas on the homestead.
After doing morning chores with the animals we headed back inside to warm up.

We are making some Christmas Morning Breakfast.
Which consist of 3 cans of biscuits. Half of the biscuits in a bundt pan.

Tim is reading Luke from the bible.

While I was getting this yumminess heated up.
Butter, brown sugar and some pecans.

For the last 4-5 years we have been making this breakfast.

We only put pecans on half some of our members of our family like Skylar don't like them.

Tim got some new work gloves!

Something Tim has been wanting.

It's a portable chain saw mill.

Oh boy this looks complicated!

The girls got me some Pioneer women bowls and lids for drinks.

Scout

Willow

After we finished up with the gift opening, Tim headed out to the garage and started working on putting together his new portable chain saw mill.

It wasn't as bad as he thought it would be.
He got it done and he is ready to use it.

Later that evening we went to spend our Christmas evening with our older kids and our grandkids. Lots of yummy food and enjoyed some family time. Time with them is precious as we can get real busy through out the year. How did you spend your Christmas?

Merry Christmas!
