2022 Meat Chickens Arrived!!

I got the call from the post office that a big box of chicks are in.

I walked into the post office and I could already hear their chirping.
They told me they even put them in the back room.
So here I go with my double decker boxes.

They are so cute and fluffy.

One by one I dipped their beaks into the water.

One box down and another to go.

I think the longest process is making sure they all have a drink of water and counting them.

The cuteness before they become a pooping machine.

I got them all out and one couldn't figure out how to get back over.
It was really chirping away and I had to help the little one out.

Next thing I noticed they found the nipple water. Normally they don't use if for days.

Even more coming over to join in.

They were finally settling in and resting.

This batch is set aside for our friend to pick them up.

Stay tuned for next week when we get another batch of meat chickens in.
We decided this year we will try and do them back to back, one week apart.
All of our chicken tractors will be housing all of our meat chickens in them. We might need to make a couple more.

Remi

Bring on the cuteness!!!!

She poses really good for me.

Remi sleeping in her crate.

She really likes to lay on her back to sleep.

Don't let the cuteness fool you.
She's loud!!!
I am still trying to get use to her whining, howling and barking.

I was out working in the garage and she found a little area to curl up in.
Oh my heart!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

She hangs out under foot and lays down when I'm sitting at the breakfast bar.

She's in training!!
Took her over to our daughters house to get a little socialization in.
Tim and I have been working on some training with her. She's very smart.
Each session she impresses me on how much she is willing to learn.
We are still working on house training. I sure wished that one would come easier.

She even found a dirt mound and used it like a pillow.

She curled up with us while we were watching a movie.
She's like a little baby.

She sleeps like this a lot and you know that doesn't even look comfortable.

Curled up again.

She's ready!!

I'm pretty sure the next time I post about her she will have grown another foot or two.

Family Time Grandkids!!

Tim and I got the opportunity to go see our granddaughter perform
with her color guard.

We are so proud of her accomplishments.
We know it has been a rough year for her. She has triumphed and persevered through things most kids haven't had to do.

Isn't she just so beautiful!!!! 💖

Their performance was outstanding. So proud of my granddaughter and her team.

My oldest Jessica and me. So proud of her too.
She has some really great kids that we just love.

Grandpa (Tim) with Isabella and Liam.

Kaitlin and EmilyMae

On another day EmilyMae and I went shopping.
She was my little helper and kept me company.

We also had to stop by and pick up some puppy supplies.

Tim and I love spending time with the grandkids and love having them out on the farm.

Baby Ducks and Baby Chicks!!

BABY CHICKS!!
I don't know what it is about baby chicks. They have a cute spell then an ugly spell.
Right now they are losing the baby feathers and getting their tween feathers in.
This spell they are in they aren't that cute. They sure are busy chirping and running around.

It always amazes me how they can teach themselves to give themselves a dust bathe.
Not the best picture but was trying to capture them doing this without startling them.

BABY DUCKS!!!
A week after getting the baby chicks our duck eggs started hatching.
I started with 48 eggs in the incubator. A little over a dozen didn't look they should. So I took them out 3 days before the hatching began.

First batch going out to the hen house.
I have a stall ready to put them in.

I would leave one or two in the incubator for the next ones starting to hatch.

Another group ready to meet the family.

Some of these little ducklings were so loud I needed to get them out of the house.

One ice cream tub at a time taking them out.

Not gonna lie I lost count after 10.

There is just something about ducklings that I just love.
Besides the adult ones swimming in our pond.

The lighting doesn't do justice to how pretty they are.

Check out the one with the black stripe around his eye.

These little ducklings are so busy. It is so neat adding new ones in the group and they just blend in with total acceptance.

Stripe eye duckling is so unique out of the bunch.

Tim counted and thinks about 24-25 of these little cuties.
I had a few eggs left that didn't hatch. A whole day later, I woke up to just one little duck.

So this lone ranger was the last one to go to the hen house stall.

I really wanted to just keep this one with us and make it a pet.
I don't think Tim would approve. Besides ducks smell.

So many and so busy. It's funny to watch them run around. They are growing fast and are already bigger than the little chicks.
