MORE BABY CHICKS????

Some might say I am a little crazy!

I might agree with them!

But, I can't resist little baby chicks are so cute!

Look what we got..........

Two more baby chicks.
I think they are a Red Mix Phoenix chick.

 We got some more meat birds.

Check out this duck. I couldn't resist having this one.
Not sure what kind it is yet!

 What is going on with her head?

 This was last night.
Kaitlin was out feeding Bolt and Lighting came so close she could almost touch him.

A CALF WAS BORN! OTHER UPDATES!

Do you see the new calf???????
Midnight had her calf today.

 Midnight and her new calf.

I was surprised that she laid down by the fence and we all got to pet her. Midnight didn't seem to mind either.

 See the other calf?
We finally have a name for him, yes he is a BOY!
His name is Lighting.
Lighting seems to really like the new calf.

Update on Bolt:

 ~BEFORE~

~BEFORE~

 ~AFTER~

~AFTER~

Bolt is gaining weight and drinking his milk from a bucket.
He does eat grains, grass and hay. He does come up to us twice a day. We did put him back with his family and he is doing great.

 Aren't they cute?
These are Alex's babies.

 They are cute too!
They are Phantom's babies.

 And Sundae's babies!
They are all mostly white and so adorable.

The Mama Banty had two babies.
The girls call her Charcoal.
She is doing very good teaching the two little ones.

 We did some moving around in the Hen House stalls.
We moved Ms. Boss out into the Hen House and the little chicks to the second stall. Leaving the first stall to move Charcoal over with her two little chicks.

 We have a rough count of about 20 baby chicks in this stall.

WEEKEND HAPPENINGS!

Our plans are to work in the garden this weekend
We have 112 tomato plants to put in.

We have corn coming up in the first two rows. I have grown this stuff before and the raccoons demolished it before I could get any.

Planted two rows of tomatoes.
We also laid mulch down in between the rows.

((((((( *WE TOOK A LITTLE BREAK* )))))))))

Skylar and Kaitlin took me out for a Mother's Day lunch.
This place is really cool and they chose wisely.
They cook your pizza outdoors in a brick oven. It tasteS sooo YUMMY!

Carrot cake for dessert!
You can't go wrong with that.

When I got back home my son, his wife and my granddaughter left me some beautiful flowers.

Now getting back to working in the garden. Before this mulch went down, the weeds were almost starting to take over.

The potatoes we planted are coming up nicely.

Starting to get some strawberries too.
Blueberries will be ready in a couple of weeks. Our wild blackberries are already flowering too.

It was starting to get dark. Just not enough hours in the day to get everything done. We had to go pick up a trailer full of straw.
We also had a beautiful view of the sunset.

And cow company too!

~SUNDAY

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

~Proverbs 31:10-12

Blueberries, cabbage, green onions and garlic all are doing great.

Blackberries and strawberries

Starting to grow are the peas and cucumbers.
The mounds where we planted different types of vegetables are starting to sprout.

The girls got me a hibiscus tree for Mother's Day!

Thanks for coming along with us on our busy weekend!
And to all you mothers out there,

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

*WARNING GRAPHIC* WEEKEND HAPPENINGS!

It is time to butcher our meat chickens.
We also happen to have a couple of our grandkids.

Liam & EmilyMae

******* WARNING GRAPHIC *******

Second to the youngest granddaughter was so interested in all the parts of a chicken. Lots of questions!

She was able to name the organ parts.
She might be two, but she is so smart!

We butchered 24 meat birds and 9 roosters.
It didn't take all day either.

Kaitlin started working on putting a sealer on a our soon to be picnic table.

~~~Sunday~~~
We got up to bag up all the whole chickens and chicken parts.
We kept it all in this tub in ice overnight.
Skylar and Tim worked on bagging the whole chickens, then moved on to the parted ones.
Kaitlin and I worked on putting the chicken breast in seal-a-meal bags.
9 whole chickens (roosters)
8 packages of legs & thighs (6 in each bag)
4 bags of wings (12 in each bag)
3 bags of chicken tenders (2 lbs each)
We had 24 bags of chicken breast with 2 in each bag.
I would say we had a successful weekend!
A NEW BABY CALF!
WELCOME OUR NEW CALF!
 I-Forget had her calf on Monday!
(Yes, that is the cow's name)
We don't know yet if it is a boy or girl yet.
The calf is only moments old in this picture. Hope is checking it out. Mama cow (I-Forget) won't let anything or anybody near her calf. Today she is far away tucked under a small bush and I-Forget is guarding her.
(On the farm we females dominate, so I call everything a girl)
