ICY WEEKEND!

What a cold and icy weekend!
Well, Saturday was nicer but still icy. It made it harder to get around and take care of the animals. Nothing like slipping and sliding everywhere with your hands full.

I love it when I go check on the little ones and they poke their head out.

I had to finally hang up the feeders and get a bigger water container in the stall.

I would say they are hungry!

The ducks are doing great. They are able to come and go through the hole and have been laying an egg or two.

Moved out the feeder I had inside the hen house for the little chicks (not so little anymore). Now they are learning to go out with the bigger hens and roosters. I have a few too many roosters and will need to sort them out.

This is the first time the cows didn't move away when I walked down the fence line super close. The Black one there is Harley the bull. Hope in the back is doing good and hanging out with the cows more.

Tim tuned up this 4-wheeler. It is super fast!

And he got this one back up and running lots better!

Tim also in his spare time... What he has spare time????
He made the fishing pole holders. He made one at our other house but we got more poles which required him to make a bigger one.
Great job!

After losing one of our kittens, Alex has been coming to the back door and wanting attention. Ninja was the only one who ever did that. Alex was always gone and on an adventure. But ever since the passing of Ninja, Alex has been hanging out and wanting the girls more. They really like that and I think it helps with the loss.

What are they doing you ask?
It is such a nice day to clean up and clear out our soon to be this years pig pasture. The cows have been grazing in it so it helps that some of it is easier to get through.

Tim and Kaitlin went to what we are calling the pig pasture and started chopping up fallen trees and removing the debris.

 See several leaning trees?
These are called widow makers. Not safe to walk under them because you never know when they will fall. With the icy weather upon us, we decided today is the day to get some of the trees down and cut up.

This one was hollow in the center.

Tim kept cutting the tree until it was on the ground.

 Finally getting somewhere.

We didn't count the trees we need to take down because there are so many. We are just taking it one tree at a time.

This is a dangerous one. Never know which direction it will go.

We are good now its down.

We just kept clearing out the debris and Tim kept cutting down the trees.

All work and no play makes for a boring job!
Lets see saw together!

Even Tim got in on it.

Before,

 After!

Break time, heading back to the house to get a late lunch.

Had to share these pics.

I don't mind the snow but ice!?
This was almost impossible to walk to our front door.

Sunday and Squirt

This dog is wet and muddy.

Back to work.

We are getting it cleared out.

We are losing daylight fast and still have several more trees to take down. We will chip away a little at a time until it is done. It's a start for now.

Starting another pile and moving up the hill.
We are making two piles one to mulch and the other to burn for firewood.

Working with a spot light before we call it a night.

Sassy-Pants and her babies are doing good and out more often now.
