WEEKEND HAPPENINGS!

Since we have been on our little/BIG vacation, its been super busy on the homestead. Hatching chicks and selling eggs & fertile eggs and baby chicks. We had two calves born. That's just so exciting for us. Now we are playing catch up and planning our garden season.
Spring is just around the corner.

As we ate breakfast on Saturday morning.......
Tim said he was concern with the sweet potatoes I got started last week. His concerns are it might not sprout. Some plants you just can't reproduce from. I was a little concerned too. I bought them at my not so favorite store. So I went to my favorite store and bought 3 more, really I bought more but for this project I got 3. The picture above is three more starters of sweet potatoes. So now we are gonna experiment and see which ones will grow.

On the left we have three sweet potatoes from Sprouts.

On the right we have three sweet potatoes from Price Chopper.

Baby chick update:
In the blue tote we have 2 Bantys left.
Green tote we have 12 chicks.
We have 92 eggs in the incubator.
More hatching next week.

Tim is working out in the pasture and I came out to see him and this cow (Speckled) just didn't want to give me space.
Cows are very curious about everything. And they have to touch everything or at least rub it. Sounds like little kids!

Tim is trying to gather stuff for our compost.
The cows and Hope keep spreading it back out.

Tim is also filling up any holes.

Update on Little Brown Cow and her calf.
They are doing great.

We have named the calf.....
BOLT!

Update on the newest calf..
It is a.........
BOY!
Coal and calf are doing good.
Skylar named him ............ Thunder!

Garden planning.....
We made the list of things to grow for this years crop.
The list is long. The spot we had our garden in last year was only temporary. So we need to get the new garden area ready.

We are measuring out what we will need.
The plan is to have it all fenced in so that critters AKA dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, cows, calves, deer and rabbits can't get in.
Only humans!

It's gonna be BIG!
Not quite to the barn but close.

Look at his metal, the tree has grown around it. I want to keep the tree but this metal might get in the way with fencing.

Tim and Kaitlin went and picked up some fence posts and other supplies.

I know what we are working on next weekend.
