WEEKEND HAPPENINGS!

NEW HEN HOUSE UP & GOING!

Saturday, Tim got started working on the roosting bars.

He built them so we are able to move them out to clean the hen house.

They fold up flat and they fit through the door.

~Sunday~
Tim, Kaitlin, and myself we got the 13 baby chicks (born the first weekend of October) moved over to the last stall. If you want to see the post click here. Tim already has the nipple water hookup for them. This will be their first time using this. Next, he hung up the food.

Next, we moved over the 9 chicks (born Labor Day Weekend)
If you want to see that post click here.
Tim already had them started on the nipple water.

The door

It was a little cooler on Sunday, so we put a heat light in for the little chicks.

In order to move the big hens over Tim needed to put screen up so they can't get to the smaller chicks. It was for safety. We are fine with them getting up in the rafters. This will give them more room to spread out then just the roosting bars.

You just can't have a hen house without nesting boxes.

These nesting boxes are temporary. Tim plans on building some. We have other ideas for using the crate boxes.

Under the tin roof we did have to put a board on top. This will keep them more private.

Also, added chicken wire to keep them out of this area.

We had to carry almost everyone of the chickens over to the new house.

Just as we thought.... already had two hens on the rafters.

Finally, we got them all in.
Except for the two turkeys and two guineas.
