THANKSGIVING PREP & THANKSGIVING DAY!

Lots going on to prep for our big thanksgiving dinner with our family.

The brine for our homegrown turkey.
We started this 2 days prior.

 This brine smells so good!

Got the turkey in the bag.

Now pour the brine in the bag with the turkey.
Now that is gonna sit in the refrigerator over night.

We have a list of things to get ready.
Let's start with the pies and work from there.

Bought the pies this year instead of making them from scratch.
Too much other stuff to do.

In the middle of the heavy cooking, I made homemade cauliflower soup for lunch.

Need eggs for deviled eggs.
Kaitlin said she would make it this year.

Getting the eggs boiled.

Cooked and ready to be peeled.

Peeled...

Now stuffing them with the creamy good stuff.

Kaitlin getting the sweet potatoes ready for the oven.

I got the sweet potatoes peeled and mashed in the bowl.
Kaitlin is working on peeling the potatoes to put in a pot then in the refridgerator.

Besides making tea, Skylar is helping to make the topping for the sweet potatoes.

Just need to add in the pecans.

Skylar is cooking the sausage for tomorrow's breakfast.

Creamy sauce for the pies.
Yum!

Tim and the girls help get the tables put together and place setting done.

~~thanksgiving day~~
Tim got the turkey rinsed from the brine.

Now we are getting the seasonings in the inside.

King Tom is stuffed with onions and garlic. Under the skin is seasoned with tons of herbs and butter and the outside is seasoned with salt and pepper. The bottom has white wine and onions.

Meanwhile, while the turkey is cooking, I went out to check out the fire in the woodstove. Tim has replaced the rusted out piping and cleaned it out and re-leveled the chimney.

It also has a blower on the right he got hooked up and plugged in.
Now it is nice and warm in the garage.

The turkeys breast split open. I have never seen that before.

We had some beautiful weather that we all go to go outside and the kids played.

Some of the dishes of food we had. Under the towels are the pies.
We had: turkey (delicious by the way), mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet yams, deviled eggs, green bean casserole, veggies, rolls (homemade), and don't forgot the four pies.

All the kids had kicked back to do their activity books. They do this every year.

Lots to be thankful for:
family, friends, good neighbors, our garden that produced lots, our animals.......

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
