PRAYERS FOR HOPE!

Prayers are needed for our new puppy.
We got her over 2 weeks ago. She has been great. I would say she is the best puppy ever. Hope has been doing great with the chickens and trying to make friends with the cats. Sundae seems to be the only one wanting to get close to her. She is a pretty mellow pup and very calm. We noticed some changes with her a couple of days ago.

Day 1, she stopped eating and was still active. We weren't worried as there is other stuff to eat.

Day 2, she laid around a little more and still wasn't eating her dog food. We offered her more often just on a chance she might eat.

Day 3, she was throwing up and not getting up much. This is concerning.
So, we took her to the hospital. Praying she just ate something that didn't agree with her. It happens to Cuddles all the time and she is fine after she gets better first.

We got the test back.

The saddest day ever............ She has parvo!

This shocked us all.

She isn't coming home with us. She has to stay at the hospital and all we can do is pray for her. She is gonna be quarantined and hooked up to a IV drip 24/7. The Dr. only gave us a 25% survival rate if she came home with us, 70% if she stayed there. We choose to leave her there. We can't visited her but we will get updates on her.

So, please pray for her to recover from this and be able to come home - back to the homestead.

For any future animals ( pigs, or puppies ) we will need to have them vaccinated from parvo before they can come to our homestead. The Dr. informed us that it lives in our soil for 10 years. How or where she got it most likely from our property. From either previous animals on the property, pigs on the property, or other dogs that have traveled through our property. It also could of come from all the rain that moved the soil across our property.

Our other dog (Cuddles) and the kittens/cats are safe from this. So are the chicks/chickens.
