Our time with the cows will soon be coming to a end. They will leave and our heifers will be coming home soon. It's been awhile since we have seen them. Lots still to do and prepare for them coming home. But, first we are needing to get some electrical fencing up in the back pasture.
At some point we will be putting up some permanent fencing. But for now we are just putting up poles and running wire.
We need to block this area off as I have our wild blackberries and elderberries growing. They will munch them down to nothing. When any cow has got out they are trampling down the blackberries.
What a wonderful evening after chores.
Tim and Skylar ran fencing to walk the cows to the back pasture.
Kaitlin and I got lucky to not be home.
Fencing is a little hard to see. They come from the front pasture and down through the middle pasture to the back pasture.
A was a little ways for them to go. Tim told me when I got home after dark everything went good.
I had to go and check them out the next day. I am so used to seeing them everyday. It was different not being mooed at in the morning.
As soon as Kaitlin andI walked to the back pasture they came straight up to us. And of course they were mooing at us.
They look happy and healthy.
Plenty of grass for them to munch on.
They liked us being with them.
Check out the video I took of them.
Over the weekend we got a ton of rain.
Tim and I went to the back pasture to check on the cows.
We were needing to check the electric fencing with all the rain and it being by the creek. Glad we came to check on it. We got it fixed.
We didn't see the cows but the creek waters are up.
We walked around to see if we could see them without crossing the creek. They are deep in the wooded area. And of course Willow goes with us.
We noticed there is some more trees down. We will be needing to get it cleaned up and cut up for firewood soon.
