Harvesting Some Herbs.

Today we harvested some more herbs. If you would like to see the post we did before click here.

Sage,
And  oregano..

A smidge of thyme.

 A hint of spearmint. . .

 And a dash of peppermint.

Clean them, pluck their leaves off (except for the thyme) and place them in the dehydrator.
And, dehydrate!

Making Laundry Soap.

Making laundry soap.

Borax, soap and washing soda.

Heat up the water.

Shred the cheese- I mean soap.

Pour it into the pot...

Melt it. But don't boil the water.

 5 gallon bucket
Once the soap has melted pour it in the bucket.

Add the borax and washing soda. (1 cup of each)

Water and mix it up!

Fill up empty bottles.
My laundry soap is made for several months!

Canning Chicken Broth, Again.

We are canning chicken broth, again. We go through this stuff so much (and we eat chicken a lot) we need to make some more! If you wanna check out our very first post about chicken broth click here or our post about beef broth here

We had so much chicken bones we needed to borrow another roasting pan.

Adding the celery and onion.

Let it sit in the pots for about 3 days.

Our friend Lauren, came over to help us can.

We put the clean jars in the oven, to keep warm.

We doubled strained the broth to pour into the hot jars.

8 pint size jars fit in our pressure canner, so we put the extra in the oven to keep them warm.

After they all wet through the pressure canner we're....

All done!!
28 pints and 9 quarts

These are for us growing clover on the chicken side. So they won't eat the seeds.
