MOVING COWS NOT ONCE BUT TWICE!

We are getting closer to when our heifers are coming home!

Tim and I are moving the cows from the back pasture to the middle pasture. We are gearing up to have them ready for the trailer ride back to their farm.

Round 1.....................

That went way easy. They are already moved and found the water.

We moved them a day early due to all the rain we are having.
For the short time they have been in the middle pasture they already took out the electric fence twice.

Due to the rain and very muddy conditions we can't get our trailer at the next farm.
So the cows go back to the back pasture for a couple of more days to allow the ground to dry some.

Round 2...........................

Kaitlin and I went to move the cows back to the middle pasture. We called for them. No cows came. We don't even see the cows. So Kaitlin went in for a closer look as to where they are.

Kaitlin walked through this tall grass and crossed the ditch area which opens into the bigger pasture.

I can hear her talking to them. I still can't see them.

Kaitlin finally got them to follow her but they aren't coming any closer to the middle pasture. We will have to wait until Tim is home to help. He is on his way but not soon enough as we have nothing to keep them right where they are.
It's hot and they don't want to be in the open.
I don't blame them as I would rather be out of the sun too.

Looky there we got them in the corral to be loaded up.
We made that look easy didn't we!?!
It wasn't at all. It took up over 2 hours to get them to this corral. They weren't gonna make this easy for sure. Now we still have to get them in the trailer and the 30 minute drive to their farm.

We tied up this panel to the post and trailer.

We got 4 in the front

and 4 loaded in the back. Let me just say with all 8 of the cows in the trailer and when they move around it rocks and moves our truck. That's a lot of weight we are hauling. We have 8 cows weighing about 500-650 lbs a piece.

We drop them off and we pick up our heifers.
How exciting!!
