After being gone there is still work to be done. We're getting some smaller projects done that we just didn't have time to do before we left.
See this precious dog.
She is SPOILED!
Skylar and Kaitlin gave her a bath.

Sometimes on the homestead you just have to do things to better your animals. We have had to take care of a duck that was sliced open, push intestines back in and give stitches. And now cut open a chickens foot.
We already did this a week or so ago to both of her feet. It's called Bumblefoot. Both feet were done and wrapped but we were wondering if we got all of out of one of the feet. Guess what, we have to do this again to her. Poor thing. The other foot has healed very nicely I would say.
Bumblefoot is: The term used to describe an infection on a chicken's foot. Bumblefoot occurs when bacteria, such as Staphylococcus invade and cause infection in the skin of a chicken's foot, creating a pus-filled abscess. Thus can take the chickens life.
I have been stocking up medical supplies since last year.
This comes in handy for days like this.
We wrapped her in a towel, which makes it easier to work on her.
Tim got all of it out. Finally her foot is soft. Right after removing it.
Check out the size of this thing!
All that caused her foot to swell the size of a golf ball.
** UPDATE: Bumblefoot/AKA Sweetheart is doing great. She is scratching with both feet and walking around. This is great news. I am so glad watching her today. She has had huge problems walking around.
Sassy-Pants and one of her babies.
Skylar and Kaitlin eating some lunch.
I am telling you its a slow day today.
While the girls are gone I got dinner started.
Making some home-grown potatoes and gonna add them to the dutch oven.
I threw in some garden onions and another home-grown chicken.
Added a bunch of herbs and cayenne pepper.
I didn't take the more pictures but dinner was DELICIOUS!
Coming back from our trip some friends stopped and picked us up some apples.
What shall we do with them?????
Comment below with some ideas.
