Trying to get back to regular life after our County 4-H Fair.
With the projects and the fair, life was very busy.
Again, sorry for the slow posting. Choosing country life has many benefits but internet isn't one of them. There's always a trade off. Plus my phone which I take all the pictures with is acting up.
Now on to the animals.....
I got the turkeys moved outside to the chicken tractor.
Moved Ms. Boss out to the duck run with 8 baby guineas.
This chicken has beautiful eyes.
The broody hen named Cleo hatched out 9 baby guineas.
Got her babies moved out to the stall in the hen house.
There was 3 eggs left to hatch. Two hatched and are in the shed under a heat light. Letting them get a few days on them before trying to add them with Cleo. Not sure how she will react to them.
If it was Sassy-Pants she would take care of them, but she is out half the day with the 6 she hatched.
Got Cleo moved over to the stall in the hen house. Two more guineas hatched. I put them under a heat lamp for 2 days. Then will put them in with the rest of the group.
They are doing great. We didn't think they were gonna make it but they are warm now.
Charcoal is almost ready to go back to the coop.
The girls are saying the babies are too small still. I think they will be fine.
Phantom's babies!
These are the two kitties that the girls kept.
Left side is Mocha and Bandit.
Bandit is so sweet!

Garden update......
Working in sections and getting a good size harvest.
Tim and Skylar are gathering the pie pumpkins.
You know whats gonna be happening around here?
Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin bread, Pumpkin muffins, Pumpkin cookies!
Got our first Butternut Squash and Watermelon.
I am thinking Butternut Squash Soup is sounding really good.
Beets
We only pulled a few carrots.
We are gonna feed them to Grayson.
Red Tomatoes
Orange Tomatoes
And those green ones are begging to be fried up.
I have cherry tomatoes growing in areas that I didn't even plant.
The other day Tim was mowing a area that hasn't been mowed this year. Guess what we found....
A tomato plant with big green tomatoes on it.
Tim got them with the mower. The chickens didn't even get them!
I transplanted them to the garden area.
Onions
We got them laid out to dry.
Remember those potatoes we planted way back in March?
We are getting them dug up.
This is one of the batches.
The girls and I got them in the trays to dry out.
We ended up with 6 trays. We put them in the basement to keep them cool and dry. Maybe next year at this time we will have our root cellar in.
Mint is doing great.
Now the girls and I are working on getting the rest preserved.
Getting firewood ready for this winter.
Summer has sure been busy.
Thanks for coming along with us!
I love how you've got a good farm going, from caring for the animals to canning/preserving your harvest!!!!!! Definitely cool to see all this progress!!!!!!!!!
