Filling up our freezers!
We got fully grown and ready to butcher meat birds.
That was a huge blessing to us. Our last butchering we parted out most of the birds and sold some. We really didn't want to do another batch with heat. They don't grow as much in the heat. So this was a sweet deal. Only had to keep them 3 days until we could butcher them.
We had most of it set up from our last butchering.
Tim and I filled the scalding tank the night before so it wouldn't be so cold. Only 15 to butcher and we plan on leaving them whole.
We let them sit over night to rest and bagged them up the next day.
That went so fast and bagging did too.
~~~GRAPHIC PICTURES COMING UP~~~
This is a 100% a working farm. We try and grow most of what we eat. So this is real. It's hard. We have happy days and we have sad days. Butchering days or days leading up to it is not always easy.
Tim and Kaitlin are handling the butchering of the rabbits.
The total to butcher is 28.
This beautiful daughter of mine is one of the most strongest, caring and compassionate people I know. Her willingness to raise her rabbits and love them to the hardest day ever. So proud of her and her strength.
Skylar and Kaitlin helped to part out all but 4 of the rabbits.
This will make cooking them easier.
We got them bagged and in the freezer.
