ENJOYMENTS OF OUR FARM!

As I walk around our farm I reflect a lot of gratitude for this place and what it brings me. It's so much joy and peace.
I am not gonna talk about my garden as we already know that raising our food brings joy at harvest.
But instead what our land and animals bring us.

I just love watching Kaitlin earning trust with our heifers.
She enjoys going out to feed them.

I enjoy how excited the heifers get when you call them and they come running across the pasture.

I enjoy watching them being curious of things we are doing.

The ducks are like clock work everyday. They quack before you even step outside the door. It's like they know you're coming. It's the greeting they give you when they see you and they run and wings just flapping. They are happy to see you. How can that not put a big smile on your face first thing in the morning!

This momma Turkey Hen sitting on eggs. For over a month.
The patience she has to sit and wait. Just brings joy and reminds me to be patient. It's not always easy, but I get daily reminders.

Then finally one day it happens.
Her eggs finally hatch!!!!!!
 The wait is over.

Seven new little turkeys.

Mr. T has just noticed Momma Turkey had babies.
Just to listen to them talking back and forth.
Humans complicate everything.

Let's talk about this hard working LGD. Hope is so amazing and her ability to protect our livestock animals. She is such a loving dog. She doesn't get skipped on attention. And loves to be brushed.

Our freedom!
Our pasture where we graze our animals and the hay we can put up for them in the winter.

Our rabbits.
Whether breeding them ourselves or given to us. They provide many things for us such as being a pet or food for our table or manure for our garden. They bring joy every time we enter the barn every morning down to a new baby being born.
I am in such awe watching any of our animals care for their babies.
They do it so much better.

New baby guineas just born.
I love knowing what they will grow up to do on our farm.

Right now momma is teaching them all they need to know.
Before long they will be out running in our pasture eating tons of insects. The adults help to protect our nesting boxes from snakes. I find joy and comfort with that.

My companion.

No matter what she is by my side.

She just loves to be with me and go anywhere.
She isn't scared of much. She is curious but faithful.
She brings joy on lonely days when I am on my farm.

I love how playful this one is with a tuft of grass.
How she watches chickens all around her but only messes with the grass. Interesting fact this once kitten used to be in the nesting box because mom chose it that way. Mom cat would leave and let chickens lay their eggs on the kittens. I would have to go and collect them all around the baby kittens and she was one of them.

The beauty of what each day brings.
You could look and say you do that everyday but each day is different. Chores take longer not just because we have more animals. It's because they bring joy to watch them.

Rain or shine, cold or hot, blazing sun to night time starry nights.
I would rather be in the county doing what I do.

Beautiful flowers that are budding around the house.

And the fragrance they put out.

There is so much more and I could go on and on but this just covers my day to day encounters on our farm and the joy of overseeing this beauty all around me.
Thanks for coming to visit today!

4H COUNTY FAIR WEEK!!

It's that time again for the 4-H County Fair.

I can say for sure they didn't do a whole lot of projects this year.
It's just they have been so busy with other stuff. I am just glad they got something done to take to Achievement Day.

Skylar with her Photography photos.
So proud of her for keeping this up. She really loves to take pictures and she is quite good at it.

Kaitlin took in a sample of her knitting. She has been working on socks. It impresses me that she can take yarn and knit socks. They are cool looking too.

Skylar and Kaitlin helping Genevieve and Georgia tag their projects before judging.

Two of Skylar's pictures are going to the State Fair.
Super excited for her.

Skylar's got a blue and a red on her other two pictures.

Kaitlin got a blue for her knitting project.
She tells me now she wants to do more next year.

We went back up to the fair. The girls and I walked around and looked at all the projects and the ribbons they all received.

Those two pictures will be at the Missouri State Fair.

This little girl is showing Kaitlin her photos.
She did a great job too.

We know who made all these quilts.
They all did an amazing job!

Both of these are going to State.

I really like this one.
I am gonna have to make one now.

Me with my beautiful daughters.

This is so pretty.

We are at the cattle appreciation dinner and cattle auction.
I think I heard they are auctioning off pigs and goats too.

It was soooo HOT!

A little boy was playing with his train and put a napkin in the top of it. I thought it was pretty cool.

We went back up to the fair for the poultry show. We had some friends showing. She did very well.
We stopped off at Mexican restaurant. We have been doing this for the past 3 years. I enjoy the time I get with them.
