MAKING ANOTHER INFINITY SCARF!

I got it done and am on to the next crocheting project!

 I finished Skylar's infinity scarf.
Mark that off of my list. With the colder weather there seems to be more time for my crocheting.

On Monday, I had to dig the snow out of the run for the Silkies/Banty coop. They were snowed in. This morning they are finally coming out.

Temperatures are suppose to be above freezing today.
I am hoping more snow will melt.

Not many chickens from the hen house are coming out. It's just a handful, the turkeys and the guineas. I am guess the others are big babies.

Two of the chickens that don't want to go back in the hen house at night. The bigger one is the one who goes on the barn rafters. So she has been staying in the barn at night.

Isn't he cute! He gets so excited to see us in the morning.
Wait...... All of them do!

With the high winds we had on Sunday, we are surprised our pool cover stayed.

I have some time today to start another infinity scarf.
I got Skylar's done. She has been wearing it and said it really keeps her warm.

BAKING & A CROCHET PROJECT!

I am finally caught up on all of my postings.
I know you just got hit with a lot of them. I have been busy, took the photos and been slowly trying to get them all uploaded to the blog. Of course, journaling takes a bit of time. Then don't forget the internet. Yep not going there. We live in the country, you get what you get.

Since this snow has come, our chickens don't know how to go back into the hen house at night. We have been collecting them one by one and putting them up at night. It's gonna get old real quick. I ended up leaving a couple out over night as they decided to roost in the rafters in the barn.

Out this morning taking care of morning chores. Hope is eating the snow or a fallen icicle? This dog amazes us. She lays in the deepest snow or on top of the ice. She will hang out in the rain. We give her a good spot to lay and she won't touch it. Nothing seems to bother her except the guineas.

Baked 2 loaves of bread and banana muffins/mini loaves.

Since I am all caught up, I will drink my hot apple cider and do some crocheting. I am making Skylar an infinity scarf.

Thanks for coming along on our journey!

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

MAKING HEALING SALVE!

I like making herbal remedies. I love to take care of my family and their health. I take classes once to twice a year. This salve I am making is one I got back in October. I had some of the oils I needed for this already infused.

~~ HEALING SALVE ~~

The supplies needed for the healing salve is:

1 oz. oil infused Chamomile
1 oz. oil infused Oregano
1 oz. oil infused Calendula
.5 oz. Beeswax
1 T. Raw Honey

I added each oil infused herb into my double-broiler system.

Add the beeswax and stir.
I just used a skewer. It's easier to clean.

Once all of it is infused real good and melted, take off of heat.
Add honey and stir to mix together.

Pour into the jars.

Let the jars cool. Put the lids on them and label it.
That easy!!

Just a quick note......

Chamomile has
anti inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It also heals skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

Oregano is
high in antioxidants and can help fight off bacteria and viruses, potentially reduce the growth of cancer cells and help alleviate inflammation.

Calendula has
anti-inflammatory properties to naturally heal cuts, wounds and other inflammatory skin diseases. Promotes fast healing and regeneration of the skin.
It has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral and many other medicinal properties.

I am only naming a few of what these wonderful herbs do.
Tons more stuff. They are awesome herbs

A WINTERY BLIZZARD!!

The wind came early in the morning. Woke me up at 5am.
Then came the rain.

 Which turned into snow.
The temperature was cold and the wind just kept blowing.

By afternoon this is what was going on.
I stayed inside from the morning chores.
The girls took care of it.

The ice covered these windows and we couldn't see out of them.

 Our own snow globe.

The wind blow so hard that it blew halfway into the barn.
Poor rabbits were getting a good dusting of snow on them.
I put up some cardboard on these two cages.

Tim is helping us put a feed bag against the cages to give some protection to the wind and snow that is still blowing. We had to carry a least a dozen hens and two turkeys into the hen house. They decided they didn't want to walk to the hen house with all the snow.

We also had to put up feed bags in the silkie/banty coop.
The snow was blowing all over them while they were roosting.

Cold and still snowing. The wind is just brutal.
It made it hard to walk with the snow drifts being so deep.
Couldn't get a picture of the ducks but they didn't seem to mind. They were swimming in the pond most of the day.

Not much room in the garage with my truck inside. Tim is working on it and needs another part. So here it sits until he can get back into town and get the part. Everytime we let the dogs out the snow just clung to them.

The next morning everything is a blanket of snow.

The sun is starting to come up.

So far only the turkeys and guineas have come out of the hen house.

Finally one chicken came out. I don't think anymore will venture out with the snow.

As cold as it is, it's still a beautiful crisp morning!

MORE FRUIT TREES!!

Tim and I get the call that our trees are ready to be picked up.

We buy from a local guy that lives a town over from us.
We have bought all of our fruit trees, grape vines and garlic from him. We bought 4 apple trees and 1 pear tree. We are expanding our fruit trees.

The plan is to get them all in before dark and before the snow is to hit us tomorrow.

Measuring so we have the correct spacing.

Pear tree is in. We still need to get a different type of pear tree for better pollinating.

In between Tim digging, I am taking some photos.
It is starting to get dark.

As the trees mature it will eventually line both sides of the driveway.

We are putting the other 4 apple trees on this side of the driveway.

Two more to go.
Darkness is moving in fast.

By the time we planted the last one it was too dark.
We did get all of them in and mulch added. I was gonna take another picture the next morning but, we were covered in snow and high winds.
I sure can't wait until all of the trees start producing some fruit!!
