WEEKEND HAPPENINGS!

Finally a weekend with no snow!!!!

Actually, it was a wonderful weekend!

Tim already started working on the chicken tractors this morning.
He put the poles on 5 of the 6. The sixth tractor still needs the wire put on. He didn't have enough, so he needs to buy more.

I asked Tim if we could get one done so I can get some of my chickens in the garden working.

He already got the chicken wire on and tarp.

Nesting box is easy added and can easily be removed.

Now we just need to get it moved to the garden.
Add the waterer and some chickens and we are good to go.

We decided to put in 5 Rhode Island Red hens and 1 Rooster.
They are gonna work the area we are gonna plant our strawberries in.

They are already hard at work.

Meanwhile, Tim started back on the other chicken tractors.
Of course, he stopped so we could work on the hen house.
We are backed up on several of our outside chores due to the weather. For now its work, work, and work!

Project that needs to be done, is removing the old mulch from the lean-to of the hen house.

We have had the skid loader ready to do this project 2 weeks ago. But didn't want to drive it through the yard and pasture with it being so wet and snowy.

Last section to be removed.
We are putting in the garden area.

The last area is sooooooo wet. Tim got the skid-loader stuck.
So we shovel by hand to remove the old mulch.

Since this area holds lots of water. We decided to put in a drain pipe.

So we all dug,

and dug!

We were in the city earlier today and picked up some supplies we needed for this job. It did take 2 days to complete. We removed the mulch and let the chickens stratch and do their thing. All the while allowing it to dry.

We are really hoping this will help with drainage.
Water collects up so bad that we have to move the hens feed.

We got this one in place.

Now attaching it to this drain, so we can drain it away from the hen house.

Now we need to fill it in with dirt.

Adding the mulch and letting the chickens spread it around.
They are hard workers!

Look how well they spread everything.
Next we will be working on making a coop inside here. Changing out the feeders. Not sure what I want yet. I have a few ideas.
