Clearing Back Pasture Fence

Since the weather was decent Tim wanted to get the next area in the back pasture ready for the cattle.
He got his supplies loaded up in the pickup truck. I had a few other things to do before I joined him.

Tim was making progress on clearing the brush away from the back fence.

I could already see a path. It was so thick. He was working on a good pile.

He was cutting while I was trying to help get the brush moved to the pile he started.

Tim had to go back and remove this smaller tree. We thought it to be better that nothing be on the fence line. It helps them to not get torn up near as much.

The brush was so thick in areas and the wild grapevines were everywhere.
This is the season to clear this out before everything is in bloom.

We tried burning the pile of brush but it was too green and damp.

We did manage to get a little pile burned. We will need to come back at a later date once it is dry and reburn the pile.

Tim and I are making any repairs to the fence line before we put up the electric fence.

Tim was having a hard time hitting the staples in the post so he predrilled it.

Putting in staples where they were missing.

Tightening up the barred wire.
These are pliers that Tim got from his Papaw. Tools like this are a treasure.

Straightening up the wire fencing.

This is another gate that is needing to be replaced. As you can see the neighbors cows have just been pushing on and most likely rubbing on it.

Now we got it cleared from the brush and fencing repairs done.

Tim and I got the posts in and are running the electric line.

We had to make sure to adjust the electric line for the ditch area.

Not a bad job and the weather was good. Cold but not bad.

Tim tightening up the lines.

Tim was double checking everything since the line got tightened up.
Looks good and this spot will be ready when we release the cattle over to this side of the pasture.

I took this picture when I got to the pasture to help Tim.

Sun going down.
I took this one before heading back to the house.

Thanks for coming along on our journey.
We are learning as we go!!
