Our weekend projects now that the cattle are moved to our back pasture is to one, check on them and two, do a fence check.
Tim noticed that our charger was showing red and something was on the fence.
Sure enough one of the barred wire was wrapped over our electric fence.
We assume it was a deer jumping the fence.
A few staples missing. Tim had some wire on him and gave it a quick fix.
Checking the back pasture fencing.
I don't see the cattle yet. I know they hear us.
This handy-dandy remote can turn on and off our electric fencing. It sure makes it nice when you're out and need it off for a moment. The old one we had didn't have that. We would be laying in bed and say "did I turn the electric fence back on??". The up-grade was a nice change.
Looks like this one is missing a insulator.
Easy off and and we had a few insulators on hand.
Here comes the cattle. Running up to the fence because they think they are gonna move.
I was wondering where our bull was?
He doesn't get in a hurry.
Usually he stays back from the group.
He's known as F2. He finally comes up but stays his distances.
Since we got him last summer he has definitely gotten bigger.
Our only steer that will go to the locker in 2024.
(Blackjack)
We didn't haul their mineral feeder to our back pasture.
We had some minerals in buckets and decided to pour them out for them.
F2 decided he was interested and joined the rest of his herd.
Looks like they are enjoying it.
Happy to make them happy!!
I find watching our cattle to be very relaxing. It's very therapeutic to me.
I like them being up closer to our house but for winter the back is better for them.
Another project to get done is to burn up one of our bush piles. Don't ask how many we have.
I love hanging out and doing farm projects with this guy.
It was a fun day of riding our 4wheelers.
We kept driving back and forth checking on our fire.
This pile of brush is done.
The next night we all three went for a ride on the 4 wheelers.
Tim, Krystal and Kaitlin
This kid aka our youngest adult, no longer a child, isn't home much. So it was extra special she was home to join us on a little adventure on the farm.
No one ever told me,
that watching my
children grow up would
be the slowest heartbreak
ever.
Beautiful, but
heartbreaking.
I wish time would slow
down, just for a
moment.
