We had a hen get her leg caught between some wire. It was cutting off circulation to her whole leg.The leg was cold, purple, and stiff. We got her some medicine and a warm place. I gave her shots in her leg for 5 days. We were pretty worried about her leg. It was so cold and wasn't looking good. On day two of her shots her leg was feeling warm and she let us know it as sore. This was a good sign she had some feeling in it. For sure we thought she would loose her whole leg. After several weeks allowing her time to heal and able to learn to move around stall.
I moved her to the Banty and Silkie Coop.
She is doing good hopping around on one leg.

They just don't like the cold, snow, and wind........
Even Squirt is trying to stay warm.
Our Banty's and Silkies have seriously been laying daily all winter long. Way to go girls!!
We freeze for weeks!
We thaw into mud for one day.
And we freeze again for weeks and add more snow.
Snow, then ice and
more snow on top of that!
Spring we really need you right now!
Fog and misting!
Tim cleaning out our gutters on a fairly nice day.
Yes that is ice.
We even had mini hail the other day.
Our driveway was so icy on Sunday that Tim had to drive the girls' car up the driveway to get them out. They were nervous about sliding into the pond or hitting a tree. No worries if dad does it, right?
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.

Kaitlin working on her math.
She made sure she finished his face.
That girl has always loved dinosaurs. I am just sure when she gets her own place it will be decorated in dinosaurs.
My Banty and Silkies are enjoying the sun.

Our big turkey!
There are chickens everywhere in this barn.
Hope trying to rest with all the noise from the chickens, turkeys, and guineas.
With some of the melting our hens have decided to lay some really pretty eggs for us.
My Valentine flowers are still in bloom.
My husband spoils me!
After several weeks I got my blanket done.
First blanket I did changing colors like this.
It wasn't hard but time consuming.
My next project.
Can you guess what it is?
When I make homemade bread, half the loaf gets eaten.
I now know why.
I got a package in today!
I have always wanted her, finally glad she is here.
It's time to incubate some duck eggs. After loosing 2 over the winter. I have really missed them being on the pond.
Thanks for coming along on our homestead!
