We have such a busy weekend with butchering, a graduation party and our towns picnic/carnival fun night. Let's get this day started.
These meat birds are so ready. The last two nights have been hard to move them in the tractors. A few of them I had to pick up and move them. That is no fun for them or us.
To believe they are only 7 1/2 weeks old. I wonder what they will weigh. The ones I picked up were very heavy.
Tim stopped by and bought two more BIG coolers. Today, we are butchering 69 meaties.
We all helped get the station set up.
Scalding pot and chicken plucker. We have a new table to put the birds on.
Here is a close up of the chicken plucker.
We get asked about this all the time.
The magic fingers that do almost all the work.
If the temperature is right in the dunk tank the feathers come off so easy in the chicken plucker.
Added another work station.
We were blessed with the new additions to our butchering area.
We got some really nice stainless steel restaurant pans/containers.
This is the complete set up. We still need to put in gates and a roof on top. But for now it works.
The girls put the meaties in the back of the pickup.
******* THIS COULD GET GRAPHIC
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! ****
With the pickup truck backed up to the station, Tim starts doing his thing and putting the chickens in the kill cones.
Next, Tim puts the chickens in the scalding pot.
The next station is the famous chicken plucker.
Once they are plucked, I place them on the table.
Skylar, Kaitlin and Brieanna are in charge of the gutting table.
These are some hard working girls. So proud of the hard work ya'll did in this heat!
Our friend stopped over to help and get his meaties butchered too.
All together we done 91 birds in 99 degree temps.
For tomorrow we will part all but 8 of them.
But now we head out to our other festivities.
