Garden Inside and Out! 2025

Well folks it's been a little while. Life tends to keep me busy.

Interesting this season in my life with my garden is my off season. Last summer I grew so much and canned. Since it is  just Tim and myself. We decided not to grow as much this year. Not gonna lie, it's hard going to the nursery and only buying a little. I usually just load up on tomatoes and green peppers. I crammed then in any possible place.
Well, not this year. I had a plan.
I started with what to grow in my hoop house. Some seeds took off and others didn't. It's the luck of the draw. I am still new at this hoop house growing thing.

Come and see what is growing inside of my hoop house...

Here is my green beans. They really took off this year. We have been eating fresh green beans and I finally canned some too.

My cabbage is almost ready to harvest.

We have been eating tomatoes as well. I just got my outside tomatoes planted a month later than I normally plant. It's been a colder season than last year. So I did delay planting them outside. So glad that my tomatoes inside the hoop house are producing. Keeping my fingers crossed and lots of prayers that the ones outside have time to grow and produce.

Some of my bigger tomato plants.

I have been getting some cuttings off of my kale plants already.
I have several bags in the freezer. I even have a plant from last season.

Another exciting one is my cauliflower is doing great!
To my luck they all aren't gonna be ready at the same time. It's been delicious in stir-fries.
I have also some broccoli.

This year my peppers are doing great!
I decided to plant them closer together this year. Last year I planted them 4 in one pot. This year I planted them more like 5-6 in a pot. They are friendly little guys and they like to touch each other.

I have started to harvest a few. Yum!

Now lets move to the outside garden area. This area I haven't gave much attention to. I focused more on the inside stuff. Plus the weather here has been a colder.

Outside garden area....

Tim planted all the potatoes for me this year. He had to clean out the beds and relay mulch down. It took him several hours to achieve the task. I was so thankful. My plate was full and I wasn't able to get the bed ready or even help him with the planting. But everything is looking good and growing.

Another project was getting our asparagus moved. And one again we were late in the season for moving the asparagus. It just had to get done. So in two of our beds we moved them from one side of the garden area to the other. Praying this works out in our favor. We will know next season. The last bed they were in had some much weeds that you couldn't get anything harvested from them. With them being moved it will be more in a controlled area.

Another move we did was move my peony bush.
I am so glad I did. This is the first year that it is this big and I have buds on it.
This plant is 3 years old and has never got very big nor produced and flowers.
Now we wait for them to open.

Got the tomatoes planted. They are small but mighty.
We have a couple of cooler days ahead but I got them in the ground with 2 days of upper 80 degree weather. As I type this I was thinking we have usually mowed our lawn a couple of times before the tomato plants go in the ground. We didn't mow until a month after they were in the ground. So much cooler this season.

The peppers are planted in a new bed this time.

Let's talk sweet potato plants.
I finally got them the beginning of June. We had some cold days and cold rain. The nursery even said they would wait to plant them too. The plants are doing great.

The blueberries are looking a little sad. I am having the darnest time growing them.
At some point I use to have around 15 plants. I am now down to 3 plants.
We are hoping to get some more next spring.

I did double the amount for my peas this year. They are just starting to come up through the soil.

The green beans sprouted pretty quick. I think I over estimated how much I planted. If they all grow and produce green beans I will have a extreme amount this year.

All my herbs are doing great. It's time to cut some and put in the dehydrator.
Gonna get them shelves restocked.

We have been having once a month family get togethers. We have been loving this season with our adult children and grand-children.

Thank you for coming along our journey.
