OUR 1ST DEER ON OUR PROPERTY!

Super excited Tim got the 1st deer on our property!!!

               The weather was turning colder and the morning seemed just right. Tim got up and headed out to see if possibly he could get one.          

I got up hearing the 4 wheeler going through the yard.

I look out to see Tim driving it with the trailer on it.

I knew something was up. Then he sends me a picture.

We got to work fast as these chickens and guineas are very curious to anything new in the barn area. 

We had a busy morning and afternoon.

Tim is working solo right now getting the meat off of the carcass.

We got several tubs and laminated cards to sort out the meat.

We are placing the meat in the tubs and then putting them in the refrigerator. This will allow the blood to drain away from the meat before we package it.

Tim did a great job, one killing it and then getting everything ready and put in the tubs. The next night we worked on getting everything cut off of the bones and packaged up. We did grind some up for burger.

SYRUP MAKING & TIME WITH GRANDMA & GRANDPA!!

I went over to my son and dil's house. To hang out and have lunch with my beautiful granddaughters and dil Ashley.

Ashley wanted me to show her how to make my homemade cough syrup. So I had Makenzie help me. 

Ashley and Makenzie smashed the horehound into very small pieces. 

They did a great job. It is actually smaller than I get mine.

We measured out the sorghum, whiskey and lemon.

Then poured the smashed horehound into the pot.

Little miss helper helped to stir it.

While Kylie watched in her chair.

We got it all mixed together and bottled it up.

Kylie is active now. Not much she doesn't explore.

She is almost walking.

Kylie loves her snacks!

Makenzie is hanging out with me. Kaitlin had a 4H meeting.

So I brought some stuff for her to do while the meeting is going on.

Finally we made it back home. I was really praying she wouldn't be asleep. She was still awake and Grandpa got to read her some stories before bedtime. 

The next morning we had breakfast after the outside chores.

This little one is growing up fast.

Today, Makenzie and I are hanging out at the library while Auntie Kaitlin is at work. We read tons of story books and made up several of our own stories.

She even played with some of the toys they have at the library.

Not sure how often they are cleaned.

But I did play Lego's with her.

After picking up Auntie Kaitlin from work we met with Ashley and Kylie for lunch. I enjoy spending time with all of them. The kids are growing up fast. Kylie will be turning 1 very soon.
