Summer has been a busy season for us this year.
Lots to do and things happening here on the homestead. This blog is gonna cover several weeks worth of random things here on the homestead that have been going on. I have been working on a couple of wood projects and I will put that in another post. But for now lets look in on the garden.
Sweet Banana Peppers
We were in such a drought and the pond looking like it was gonna dry up. Next thing you know God sends us rain. Lots of rain!
Our garden just took off and started to produce. So the girls and I have been trying to keep up.
Peppers
I am saying that's a lot of tomatoes.
Tomatoes, peppers, banana peppers, chili peppers, black eyed beans are drying nicely.
Willow watching me in the garden.
Several days later another great harvest.
Got the dehydrator going to dry them chili peppers.
We ate some of them peppers with dinner and put the rest in the freezer.
One of the batches of tomatoes, we canned homemade Salsa!
YUMMY!!!
We have been having a lot of rain and it finally moved out and let some blue skies show through.
And check out the pond filling back up and the green grass!
Got corn from a local farmer not far from us.
Our corn isn't ready yet and we aren't sure if it will still produce any or enough for us. My girls are super picky. I raised them that way. I take full credit for it. So, they won't eat just any corn. They want it right off the cob. So we get a big supply of corn and prepare it for the freezer. Can't get any fresher than that.
Here they are hard at work shucking all the corn.
Meanwhile, I fine cleaned them and blanched them.
The girls cut the corn off the cob.
They also put them in the bags.
They are some hard working girls. Many girls their age don't know how to do the many tasks they do here on the homestead.
Tim and I worked on getting the bags ready and sealed for the freezer.
We have wonderful neighbors who have bees.
We got blessed the other day with huge jar of honey.
Thanks friends!!
Butter was getting low. I got my order in from Azure and was able to can my butter. I love the color after it's canned.
